I really had no idea what to expect of the "13" event. For starters it was kinda far away. Sacramento scene people aren't exactly notorious for going long distance for a "local" club/event. I was very suprised at the outcome and happy. When I got there at 8pm the room was already full! That's the earliest I've ever seen that many people at a local club. It continued to get busier as the night went on and happy to see people dancing to each of the DJs music. I think we all had a good mix of styles/genres going and the dancefloor was full off and on all night. I was pretty nervous though because it's been about a year since I've touched my music. I was definetly a little rusty. School really has sucked away all my free time. I have stacks of cd and files on my computer of new music that I still haven't been able to sit and listen through for the past year. So mainly I stuck to older classics last night. I had a bunch of younger kids who were into the Agro/Terror so that gave me some direction of what people wanted and got them on the floor.

David asked me to help him with it and gladly I did. He needed a little guidance in doing an event like this. I've done a couple bellydancing nights so I knew how to work around it. I got the Sacramento Horror Festival people to show up and got tickets for the December 12th show. We did a drawing for that at around midnight. We had Patty, Adam and Nick vend their "businesses". I met new people, saw some people I haven't seen in a whil and networked. So in all the night was unique and fun! We were able to raise a lot of money for the El Dorado County Humane Society! That was exciting! We might do this again and each time help a different non-profit. They can defiently use the help in these hard times right now.

GoetiaTV was out interviewing the DJs and bellydancers. I got interviewed and boy did I get stuck answering some hard questions...like (not in order):

Interviewer:"What do you think of Sacramento?"

and my answeres went something like this:

me: "Um...well, I grew up in LA and I've seen what differences a big and small city have. Sacramento in my opinion is more of a 9-5 city, it's a state workers city essentially. Nothing really goes on weekdays after 5pm. Weekends there are some things but they don't last as long as say the LA nightlight where they party it up till mornings. It's more of a suburban city though. Nice and quiet, sort of conservative compared to the big city."

interviewer: "Where do you think the future of Sacramento nightlife/entertainment will go and be?"

me: "I really have no idea. It's been on the same level for such a long time. It's hard for anything to really grow any bigger. I know that the city itself is wanting to invest money to make it the "next big city" and get the entertainment industry going, but we'll see about that and if it even happens. Midtown has been getting better from what I heard, but I'm not involved with that part of town so I'm not sure how big the improvements are."

Interviewer: "What do you think the Sacramento goth scene can do for the city that is positive?"

Me: "I think it depends on the group and person you talk to about that. Some people in the scene are really big about helping the community...Some of us have done events like this one tonight where it's all for charity..and Like what I do, volunteering for the SPCA and doing fundraisers. I love helping the community. The rest of the scene, can be really just into themselves. It depends on the person to say, what can they do positive."

Interviewer:"What do you think about the Sacramento goth/scene?"

Me:"well, that's been an interesting observation. When I was in high school lots of people in the scene used to be really close. It used to be huge and thriving. Now with the younger kids coming in, I think that the understanding of the lifestyle is more lost and the kids are all about themselves and dressing up. It's taken a huge downslide in the past years though. We lost pretty much everything except the main club in town-Asylum. There is a group of people trying to get things going again. I don't think things will ever be the same though. Not till people can start working as a community again and drop the drama."

Interviewer: "I hear that DJs are a close knit community and work together. What do you think?"

Me:"Again, I think that depends on the person and the scene/genre they're in. Some DJs do work as a group, some are solely all about them and what they can get/do. In the goth scene, I do work with a small group of the Djs as a team."

There were so many questions and I can't remember them all. It was about 1am when they interviewd me. There were easier questions just related to my own experiences, my clothing line, traveling and what I do etc etc. I'll have to keep an eye out for the interview. It's going to be embarrasing...being tired is not a pretty picture to see. LOL!!

All of you old dnb'ers, remember this album? The OST for The Jackal. There is a special mention of Goldie's contribution and links to the songs. So much beat on a mainstream hollywood movie. maybe the only case ever...

Halloween this year wasn't too bad. I enjoyed myself. Halloween weekend started off going to the show at Necropolis on Friday. There is a misunderstanding of Necropolis...it is not a nightclub. It's a venue...like the Boardwalk. Necropolis is the name of the buisness that is open 7 days a week and every night will host music of all types from Reggae to Metal. The venue is run by a group of Russians and booked by Trish's friend Jonathan. It used to be Wilamina's but from my understanding it's gone under a remake. It's different. There is a lot of potential to turn it into something great. It needs quite a bit more interior decorating to complete it, it looks pretty bare still. I would like to help remodel and add the touches that will make it feel like a "dark/underground" place. There is one part, the "VIP room" that is the best part, with black dungeon like walls, antique furniture and paintings. It needs a few more touches to make it feel like a "VIP room" in my opinion. I was able to catch up with people I haven't seen in awhile and that was really nice and all I needed to make my night. I ran into Victor who I haven't seen since I was in High School/1st year of college. That's a cute/funny story how we met...for another time. I had NO idea he is in Adam's band "Saviour". Small world!! I never paid attention I guess. When I first saw him, he looked like someone else I despised, but then again he looked so oddly familiar. I couldn't put my finger on it...So I walked around taking peeks at different angels. He came up to me to talk and that's where it hit me. GOD I can't believe how much time has flown by!! It makes me SO sad!! I couldn't remember how I lost contact with him till I remembered it was because my ex Joey didn't want me talking to other guys. But yeah...there weren't too many people there maybe 30 max..20? I think it was around 10:30pm that people started showing up and the bands started up. They all did great jobs. Suprisingly Cystem Cex has become my favorite. I really really dig their music and their CD is super clean and tight. I've had it on repeat in my car for the last few weeks. The cool thing about the venue is that they have a "hookah bar"...it's a bit pricey at $10 each, but if you split the cost with another person it's not to bad. David and I split one, ah how I miss the hookah. Around 1am, I guess there was a riot in Old Sac by wannabe black trash gangbangers. I had to be walked to my car after that.

This is one thing I can not understand...Halloween has become "Initiation night" for gangs. On the East Coast and bigger cities, it's the night that 14-15yrs old get initiated into gangs....it's also the night that those who are brought in, must do acts of violence to prove they are worthy of being in a gang. Last year I got a call from friends who work in the Sacramento Police Dept, telling me to not go out because of that. It's so stupid...teenagers are so freaking stupid. I noticed that in the area I live in, all the street signs and stop signs for blocks and blocks were ripped out of the ground. That happened the night of Halloween.

Halloween morning I went out to a "Dia de los Muertos" -Day of the Dead -breakfast shin dig with family friends. I've always celebrated this growing up. It's a day to remember the dead, the good times, memories and their lives. It's also to deal in a comical postive way with the fact that death is a part of life. It's accepted and not feared, mourned yet celebrated. "Dead bread" is something I love that you can only get at this time of the year, so I stuffed myself. LOL! I had a great time at that. That night I drove out to Patterson to celebrate with Ken and Jessica, their wedding. It was a ways out, but I love driving...I love road trips! So it's not really a big deal for me to drive places that are far away. This time I borrowed my parents Prius to save on gas. I really don't want to give the oil companies more money than is necessary. :P I had a really nice time hanging out with them, Jessica's mom, catching up with Chantelle and the other people there. I wish I hadn't had to deal with project partners the next morning and work, or else I would have stayed later.

Overall..Halloween was pretty nice and laid back this year. No trick or treators, no costumes.....afterall...isn't Halloween everyday for people like me? LMAO.
